Trying To Format Wd My Passport For Both Mac And Pc And It Keeps Saying It Cannot Unmount
Hey there Sushil Kulkarni, What's the exact model of the WD External drive? I would check if the drive is visible in BIOS, Device Manager or Disk Management. I'd also check for any new updated regarding the OS, storage controller, BIOS or the drivers themselves. You could also check the drive on another computer with the same or different OS to see if the problem comes from the drive or from the OS. If you get the drive to be recognized anywhere I would run WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool in order to see if the drive is functioning properly or not. I hope, you have got your WD becasue I found the true solution!! Please try it! • Find another computer, that’s not a MACBOOK or Imac or anything what works with OSX system. • DO NOT USE an OSX SYSTEM! Try to find a WINDOWS system • plug in the WD to the Computer (that has the Windows system). Format your WD and on the normal PC. Plug out safely when it’s done.
Mar 27, 2017 - If it doesn't work on different computers you have narrowed it down the the WD unit itself. If the problem was with your Mac, it wouldn't be present on a different. The WD enclosure is reporting back that there is a drive but it has no. If it is your drive, the USB to SATA adapter will allow you to attempt to.
