In Sierra compared to the previous system did not seem to be allowed, at the same time, to have an iCloud calendar that synchronizes and the calendar on computer that is not synchronized, as I had before. Now it's one or another. When I log off from the iCloud service then it is possible to create a calendar on the computer and the group, as bodyxs showed.
When I log in to the iCloud service, all calendars are moved on iCloud. There is no way to keep some calendars only on the computer, as it was the case with previous systems. I found that I could not disable calendar alerts on a per calendar basis for iCloud calendars on my Apple Watch. That seemed odd to me, because I could do it for my iPhone.
Nevertheless, I determined that the events for which I wanted no notification were Automator calendar events that applied only to my Mac, so I decided to move them into a calendar On My Mac. I had difficulty with this. I started by exporting the events of the calendar according to Calendar.app help, but when I tried using Import from Calendar.app's File menu, nothing happened, so I tried creating a calendar first to import the events into (I discovered that using import even after doing so also resulted in no changes to the new calendar although it was selected, a problem which was resolved by dragging the previously exported.ics file instead of using Calendar.app's Import menu item). When I tried simply hiding all the iCloud calendars and creating a calendar On My Mac, the new calendar always appeared in the iCloud group. If I disabled Calendars or signed out of iCloud entirely in the iCloud prefpane, then created a new calendar On My Mac, then turned Calendars back on or signed back into iCloud in the iCloud prefpane, the calendar I had just created would either be deleted (if it contained no events) or moved into the iCloud group.
The workaround I used was to disable Calendars in the iCloud prefpane, create a new empty calendar with the default 'untitled' name On My Mac, then allow it to be deleted when I turned Calendars back on in the iCloud prefpane. I was then able to create a new calendar On My Mac and drag the.ics file onto it to restore its events.
