I still believe we're talking about different things. I already added iTunes (I don't use Spotify) to the list, ticked and restarted it. But that didn't change the behavior of the media keys at all. For example, when there's a video in Safari but I still have iTunes playing music in the background, I could always hit the play/pause button on my keyboard to pause iTunes. This was never an issue up to and including Sierra.

Within the last few days my pause/play buttons have stopped working. I used to be able to ues the media buttons on my Logitech Keybard as well as my Logitech Headset (which is wireless bluetooth). These include pause/play, stop, volume, and Next / Previous song buttons. Today they are not working at all. As of at least Weds last week they were.

But since High Sierra it's the other way around. When I now hit the pause button, I pause the video in Safari and iTunes keeps playing music.

I just don't get why Apple had to change this. As soon as Safari is showing some media, it seems like it's instantly making iTunes low priority regarding the media keys. This is SO annoying. And that's not all. If I close Safari, which means there is NO other app using any kind of media except iTunes, the media keys still haven't been reassigned to iTunes. Which means the media keys have no function at all in that moment.

And I thought OP was talking about the exact same issue, except that he's using Spotify instead of iTunes. Yes, I also have this installed but I have found that if you choose to have it run on startup then it doesn't work. Additionally, this program doesn't let me use the skip forwards/previous keys to control media meaning I have to flick between Spotify and what I'm doing to change tracks which isn't exactly ideal. Then there's having to start the program if I want to use it which is another step.

Dolphin is an emulator for two recent Nintendo video game consoles: the GameCube and the Wii. Fixed - Support After updating my MacOS to High Sierra, the wii u gamecube adapter isn't detected. I understand Apple's reasoning in making this change but I have yet to have it be beneficial and I don't recall seeing many positive responses to it online. If anything I just find it cumbersome and even after using High Sierra for almost a year I still automatically press the media keys because it's just engrained in me after all these years, and it's frustrating when they don't do what I want, and expect, them to. I'd say you're safe, Apple rarely switches back changes like these, but I am hopeful they will give us the option as you've suggested. Time to get to I don't think Apple thought this one through: if I wanted to control the media playing in the active window, then I could already click the media controls which are currently visible. Previously having the keyboard link into iTunes meant that I didn't need to switch to iTunes to pause music, and similarly didn't need to pay attention to what is the foreground window before pressing the button.

Tldr; BeardedSpice not working on web-browsers, tried trouble shooting. Great thread. I wanted to ask about your experience with BeardedSpice. Have you been able to control Youtube videos? For me, it only works to control Spotify.

I can't seem to get it to work on any browser though:/ Even if I am actively on a Youtube page (on either Chrome or Safari), the media keys do not function. I checked the 'Preferences' on BeardedSpice to make sure 'Youtube' was allowed.

On my laptop, I gave permission for the app to control Google Chrome, Safari, Spotify, and iTunes. (System Preferences -> Security&Privacy -> Privacy -> Automation -> BeardedSpice) Any tips on how I can get the app to work on web-browsers?

I installed Mojave yesterday and since then, the media keys on my Apple keyboard no longer control Sonos. They open iTunes.

Previously, if iTunes was open, these keys would always default to operating iTunes, but all I needed to do was close iTunes, and if the Sonos app was open, these keys would control Sonos instead. Now with Mojave, they only control iTunes. Has anyone else run into this? Anyone have any workarounds or ideas?

I've searched both Sonos and Apple forums but can't figure out a solution.
