Anybody using a Mac Mini for recording? I was going to get a new Macbook Pro and then noticed the Mac Mini has almost identical specs (albeit an older processor) and costs less than half the price. I would be running Logic Studio with an Apogee Duet and some kind of midi interface as well. I won't ever be recording more than 3 tracks at a time, 2 from the duet and one midi. Here are the specs for the Mac Mini I would be purchasing: 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 8 GB Ram Dual 500GB Serial ATA Drives Opinions? I'[m gonna be the lone disenter.

I can't really speak from experience but I have two examples to referrence: -I have a friend who is a pro audio engineer. When I was setting up my home studio I asked him about the mac mini. He said it wasn't recommended but he did like apple products with more processor speed(a la i5 or i7) for programs like pro-tools. -My brother does some recording with a husband and wife team.

They use the mac mini and he says it gets hung up(a lot) when running too many things(recording and mixing). I ended up buying a creation station from sweetwater which has windows 7 and I'm running pro tools on it, and I'm hopelessly lost in trying to figure out pro-tools 9 but no problems betwen windows 7 and pro tools 9 thus far. I'[m gonna be the lone disenter.
